Freezing temperatures wreaked havoc at a Northern Indiana refinery when a cooling tower’s water pipe froze and burst.
The Refinery operator chose three PowerPrime DV325c 12-inch pumps to bypass the 18,000gpm flow from the 36-inch cooling water line across 900 feet to the cooling water basin.
Additionally, three PowerPrime DV150i six-inch pumps and three DV100c four-inch pumps were used to dewater the areas flooded by the pipe burst. Those pumps were later used to prevent the cooling tower from freezing and keep the refining operation working safely.
