As traffic increased between two South Carolina cities, a two-lane bridge needed expansion to four lanes to meet traffic demands in the area. The contractor chosen to head up the project needed to safely and reliably drill a foundation in the intercoastal waterway to support the new bridge construction.
Each of the 85 shafts to be drilled measured 6’ wide by 90’ deep. As each shaft was drilled, two PowerPrime DV100 four-inch pumps moved bentonite slurry into the shafts for the contractor. By storing and reusing slurry, the contractor did not have to buy and mix more — saving time and money.
